Because if you do not have a when-others, the error is automatically raised... You DON 'T NEED the
when-others

SQL > declare
2 x number;
3 begin
4 x := 1 / 0 ;
5 exception
6 when others then raise;
7 end;
8 /
declare
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01476 (See ORA-01476.ora-code.com): divisor is equal to zero
ORA-06512 (See ORA-06512.ora-code.com): at line 6

SQL > declare
2 x number;
3 begin
4 x := 1 / 0 ;
5 end;
6 /
declare
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01476 (See ORA-01476.ora-code.com): divisor is equal to zero
ORA-06512 (See ORA-06512.ora-code.com): at line 4
